Flag Game - Belgique Belgie Belgium

Here is my participation to the flag game : a flag for a beautiful flat country : Belgium

The rules:

1. You will be tagged by someone that already finished their flag.
2. This person will issue you a country from this list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallery_…
      - It must be a flag that hasn't been chosen by anybody in the game before you.
3. You will create an alternate flag for your given country.
      - Your flag may incorporate parts of previous flags but it must be in some way original.
4. You will post the flag on dA, link to the flag of the person that tagged you and tag one other person, issuing them a country from the list.
      - For continuity's sake please also link to the flag done by the person you tagged when they post it.

The symbolism :

 The lion, also known as Leo Belgicus, is the traditionnal emblem in the former Low Countries (Belgium, Nederland, Luxemburg, Nord-Pas-de-Calais), many provinces have a lion in their coat of arms, and the map of the Low Countries was often pictured as a lion (see : upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… ), so at the independance of the country, the brabantine version of the Lion became naturally the symbol of the whole Belgium.
 The red Cross of Burgundy use to be the traditionnal flag of the former Burgundian Low Countries, the first united government for the belgians provinces in medieval era. After the end of medieval era, and because Spanish Habsburg became the new masters of Low Countries, this cross also became an important symbol of early modern Spanish Empire.
 Black & Yellow are also the traditionnal colours of the Habsburg dynasty.
These colours : Black, Yellow and Red are also the officials colours of modern Belgium, mainly because it was also the colours of the coat of arms of the most important province of Belgium : Brabant.
